The Dispensationality of God

God is a dispensational God. This means He does different things at different times. Saying He is the same yesterday, today and forever (Heb 13:8) doesn’t mean He is necessarily conservative. It only means that His being dispensational is constant.

In Eccl. 3: 1 the Bible says that ‘to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.’ Therefore, all things and purposes under heaven have been allotted their respective times and seasons by God. Even when God saw that the law of the Old Testament had embarrassingly failed to make people perfect, and that people were writhing and dying under it, He could not do anything. He did not change the pattern, but patiently waited until the fullness of time came before ushering the Grace Dispensation. The Bible says that “… But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son… (Gal. 4:4-5).

Mystery of Christ’s Third-Day Church

The dispensationality of God is has so much to do with the timing of God, and one of the implications of His dispensationality has to do with the concept of the Third-Day Church. Simply put, we are in the time God has allotted for the Third Day Church. But then what is the Third-Day Church

The Bible makes a rather puzzling mathematics statement:

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Pet. 3:8

The book of 2 Peter 3:8 is a unique scriptural verse. It contains an important message that the Church must never ignore if we must be relevant in this eschatological age. Here we read:

From this scriptural verse we see a rather unusual equation:

1000 years = 1 day

This equation implies that two thousand years are equivalent to two days. Therefore, from chronos, that is, man’s calendar, the year AD 2013 implies that two thousand and thirteen years have passed since Jesus walked this earth, lived, died and resurrected. That is, we are now thirteen years into the first three thousand years, that is, the Third Day.  This is the day of perfection and the day of resurrection.

The Church Age is predicted to last for Three Days. As we mentioned earlier, each day is to last for 1000 years according to 2 Peter 3:8. We can set it out as follows:

1st Day = 1000 years              — that is, the first 1000 years AD.

2nd Day = 2000 year                — that is, the first 2000 years AD.

3rd Day = 3000 years             — that is, the first 3000 years AD.

God’s programme for the Church is expected to last for ‘three ‘days.’ By ‘three days’ we mean three thousand years. What is the basis of our assertion? How are we sure of this?

To grasp what 2 Pet. 3:8 is saying, we simply read from the left side of this equation to the right and back again to the left two or three times. But wait a minute! One thousand years equal to one day? That’s incongruous! That’s sounds very unmathematical, illogical and unscientific. It goes beyond our little so-called ‘intelligent’ minds. This is God’s own calendar, called ‘kairos.’ What it means is that when He says ‘one day’ what is on His mind is a thousand years and vice versa.

The ‘Third-Day’ Concept

Therefore, by this principle, three days of the Church Age is divinely speaking about three thousand years. This is God’s own wisdom, God’s own clock, His hidden wisdom, calculated to confuse the devil and his cohorts, even the princes of this world.

So, what is the biblical bedrock for this ‘Third Day?’ Right from the Old Testament times the Spirit of God began to speak about the Third Day. In Hosea 6:2 we read:

After two days will he revive us: in THE THIRD DAY he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight

Here, God speaks to Prophet Isaiah about reviving the Church after two days and raising us up on the third.

From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again  THE THIRD DAY.(Matt 16.2)

Matt. 20:19,  Jesus was again says,:

And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and THE THIRD DAY he shall rise again.

Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and IN THREE DAYS (by the third day) I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.  (Jn. 2:19-21 ) (Emphasis mine)

And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and THE THIRD DAY I shall be perfected. ( Luke 13:32)

Now, the question is what third day was He talking about? Heb 2:10 says:

For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing MANY SONS UNTO GLORY, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

When did He suffer? He suffered from the scourging by the Roman soldiers and the death of the Cross. This was when He suffered, after which He was perfected. To be perfected is to be glorified with the fullness of the glory of God. But, when did this perfection happen? After His resurrection, of course! Therefore, by third day He was talking about the day of His resurrection.

In 1Peter1:10-11, the Word says:

‘The prophets, who prophesied of the grace (divine blessing) which was intended for you, searched and inquired earnestly about this salvation. They sought [to find out] to whom or when this was to come which the Spirit of Christ working within them was indicating when He predicted the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow [them].’ (AMP)

You would observe here that the Scripture talks about the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow. Therefore, the glories followed after the sufferings. When Jesus arose from the dead, He arose as One that had completed all that was necessary, fully justified and perfected by the workings of the Spirit. He arose as a life-giving Spirit. There was nothing else required of Him. He fulfilled all things and today stands forever perfected before the Father. Glory to God!

The Third Day is REAL…

The Church must begin to walk according to kairos and not chronos. We need to take note of Christ’s mention of days in Lk. 13:33; Jn. 2:19 and Matt.16:21. He wasn’t just talking about three literal days. Of course, His resurrection fits into the framework of being crucified, undergoing death, being buried, and being resurrected in three days as it did happen in reality, but it had a double reference to the prophetic framework of God’s kairos. Jesus was speaking about a futuristic Third Day!! He was speaking about an era, a special season in God’s agenda that was to happen in the telescopic future. Therefore the resurrection of Christ was more than an event. It was prophetically indicating an eschatological season of perfection.

Just as Christ was in the grave for two days so will the Church wriggle in her perilous times for the same Two Days― the first and second days (2000 years). If you are conversant with world history, and more specifically, Church history, you would nod your head at the statement that the Church has gone through intense persecution for the past 2000 years. Think about the persecution of the Church under the Roman Empire, the Persian Empire, the Middle Ages (as partly recorded in books like the Foxe’s Book of Martyrs), in the communist lands, and presently in the hands of the Arab world.  Interestingly, it would appear as though the gates of hell were prevailing, just the way the religious people thought they had prevailed when Jesus was in the grave for two days.

Then came the third day and Jesus arose from the grave. In spite of all their effort they could not keep Him there. Now, just as they could not keep Jesus in the grave on the third day so will these religious people be unable to keep the Church in the grave on this Third Day. The acts and intents of the enemy will not stand, and cannot stand on this day! WE HAVE ENTERED THE 3RD DAY OF THE CHURCH!

Throughout eternity God has been reserving His mighty power for this Day. It is apparent that until the day comes for Him to swoop into action He will do nothing. But God knows what He is doing. He is just making a fool of the devil. He wants the devil to get to his zenith before He swooshes in on him.

Understand that it has already been established by God that on the first day the Church will experience wickedness, corruption, decay, and so on. Religious people, false teachers, fake prophets, fake miracle workers, false brethren, heretics, antichrists, Gnostics, scoffers, and so on, would hijack the Church. The situation would assume its peak on the Second Day when the Church would be in such a terrible mess and  will suffer serious wounds.  But then, the Owner of the Church, the Head of the Church, the Husband, the One who vowed to build His Church, who vowed that the gates of hell will not prevail against it, is neither dead nor asleep. I am talking about the Almighty One, the Lion of the tribe of Judah! He is not weak, as some people think. His hands are not tied nor has He given up on His Church. He has a game plan.  He has hidden wisdom on how to deal with the rampaging foe and launch the final decisive blow against him. He cannot watch the Church He loves so much, and for which He has sacrificed so much, crushed by the gates of hell. He will not allow the precious blood of Jesus Christ, with which the Church was purchased, go down the drain. Never!! Impossible! The Mighty Lion will roar. WE HAVE ENTERED THE 3RD DAY OF THE CHURCH!

He will roar on this Third Day, which is the moment of the release of His supernatural, paranormal, sovereign, unprecedented, and unparalleled power (Ps. 110:3).

It’s the Revelation of Christ that also gives rise to The Waves of The Church…
